A brief meeting ...

Near HQ South, the commander of the Dorset coast area on his way back to his staff car meets with a man from intelligence ...
Commander: Any word on the german spies ?
The 'man': Not really, we believe they are operating out of the area around Freazingham. Thats all we can tell from picking up some of their radio signals - unable to get a firm triangulation.
Commander: Need me do do anything more ?
The 'man': Increase your patrols near installations; the police have been informed and are carrying out extra checks on people new to the area and are doing random checks of identity papers.
Commander:Thanks for the update, I'll see you the next time I'm up at HQ.....

Down by the estuary ...

Smith and Robinson (the german spies) had not been idle; they had collected information on naval craft in the area by watching the movements in the estuary and out at sea. As a cover for their activities they had linked up with a couple of young ladies to take on picnics and indulge in other activities ...

The weather was nice and they had gone down to their favourite spot on the estuary, where it narrowed and there was a small headland ...

While Robinson and the ladies decided where to setup the picnic, Smith looked out over the water...

a small steam ship, puffed by on its way out to sea....
a few minutes later a submarine passed 'up stream' ...
Smith made some quick notes and headed up to have a quick word with Robinson - they would have to try and get a closer look at the naval base further up the estuary ....
